Ganesha is the lord of power and wisdom. He is worshipped first before undertaking any important work. The son of lord Shiva and goddess Parvathi, he is known by many names including Vinayaka. His birthday occurs on the fourth day of the Hindu month of Bhadrapada, usually around August or September, and is celebrated as Vinayak Chathurthi or Ganesh Chathurthi. Today is Vinayaka Chathurthi; on this auspicious day, we convey our greetings to you. May the lord bless us all in all our endeavours.
